My sister first made all sorts of requests for her fiance’s birthday. It started with a basketball cake and then she changed her mind and asked for a wine bottle cake. Basketball and wine are his passions and she wanted to incorporate it into his cake.
In the end she decided on a simple vanilla cake and left it up to me to design it. I made two layered 8 inch vanilla bean cake and frosted with a vanilla bean coffee scented buttercream. Drizzled chocolate ganache completed the look.
Judging from the look on his face he was a very happy boy!
I love it when clients make it easy for me. This particular lady wanted to deliver six dozen cupcakes to her fellow colleagues and her only request was chocolate and red velvet with cream cheese and everything else was left up to me.
The greeting card was designed and made by me personally. I just love Memories Suite!
Simple and chic can never go wrong. 🙂
Since its two hours to go till Thursday on this side of the world, I thought I throwback to March of last year when I made this gorgeous cake for my bestie’s birthday. Lilac and Roses go so well together don’t they? 🙂
I can’t wait to make your wedding cake this year Irene! xxx
I absolutely adore this cake! When I first saw it on I Am Baker’s blog I fell instantly in love. Its simple, easy and so gorgeous to look at. This was an 8 inch three layered cake made out of chocolate, strawberry and vanilla. Piping roses couldn’t be any easier and the result is so elegant. Perfect for a birthday, a bridal shower or just to surprise someone you love. 🙂
This was by far the most interesting order I ever had. My client wanted to surprise his wife for her 30th birthday and came up with a very unique idea for a cake. They are huge fans of Breaking Bad and you guessed it, he wanted a cake with stuff that resembled the ‘stuff’ from the show. He wanted it messy and textured and most importantly a very fun and unconventional cake.
It was a simple two layered 6 inch vanilla cake tinted blue and frosted with a textured vanilla buttercream. I finished off the cake with some sugar blue crystals that I found at the baking shop and voila!
His wife was absolutely ecstatic about the cake! They even dressed up as the characters from the show but I won’t show you that out of respect for their privacy. 😉
A client of mine approached me not long after I had posted up my blog entry on the ombre blue ruffle cake. Linda wanted to celebrate her son’s full moon celebration with the same beautiful cake but with some slight changes.
Like the previous one, it was an 8 inch four layered checkerboard lemon and chocolate cake frosted with cream cheese in between with a lemon buttercream icing. For a slight twist we added a blue elephant to the bottom of the cake and swapped the ombre from light to dark instead of dark to light.
I’m dying to make a pink baby shower cake! Any takers out there?? 🙂
